Trail Clean Up

Tallgrass Gully trail is a beautiful resource for canyon residents to do some short hikes or a longer hike up to the Red Butte Ridge & Mount Wire. Unfortunately, there are several areas along the trail that have been used as dumping grounds at some point in the past and contain a ton of trash. In order to clean these areas up for good, we’ve planned a community trail day to comb over the trail and clean it up!

Invasive Species Removal

Myrtle Spurge started out as an ornamental plant in gardens but has quickly spread and become an invasive species. It has no natural predators (no deer or moose eat it) and is dominating hillsides in the canyon, choking out all other plant life. In the spring when the ground is damp, it’s easiest to just pull the plants up, roots and all (or dig with a shovel)!

Things to bring:

  • Gloves!
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Long pants
  • Buckets or trashcans for hauling trash down the trail
  • Shovels
