The District was formed in June 1968 by action of the Salt Lake County Commission for the purpose of providing water and sewer services to residents of Emigration Canyon. Please feel free to contact any of the trustees or our manager Fred Smolka to obtain specific information regarding the District and its activities. Click on contacts to find phone numbers and addresses.
Please note that the District is meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month for the most part, but we have a couple of exceptions. Please check on the calendar to make sure of the right date.
The District water system currently serves Emigration Oaks, Killyon Canyon, Lower Burr Fork, Young Oaks and the two Quad subdivisions. Emigration place is served by the Salt Lake City Water Department. The remainder of the canyon residents obtain water from individual water systems on their premises or one of a few small systems that serve 15 homes or less.
If you have discovered a suspicious situation that might be a leak in the water system or some other emergency for which the District can help, the following are the names and phone numbers (in order of calling priority) of those who may be able to help or at least make the necessary contacts to correct the problem. It is better to be safe than sorry, so don’t hesitate to call.
1. Fred A. Smolka, Manager (office) 582-6176 (cell) 580-7770
cell phone has “no service” at office, so only available when Fred is in the field.
2. Larry Hall, Aqua Environmental Services (cell) 209-6382
3. Mike Hughes, Chairman (cell) 272-6701
4. Lynn Hales, Engineering Committee Chairman 581-9001
